Analysis of activities –

With the progress of the era, there have been various changes in the field of education.Education is no longer dependent on conventional norms but on a scientific evidence. With the change in education policies, there have been significant changes in teaching methods. Creative arts/child art/ visual arts is one of the most important topics in education, especially at the elementary level. Studies by many well-known researchers, including Frans cizek, the father of child art,has made it possible to know a lot about a child’s characteristics through the practice of child art or creative work. The new education policy has given a special place to the practice of creative arts as a medium for the development of children’s learning knowledge and experience as they grow older. Therefore, the academic panel of CFAC which comprises of various renowned academicians, artists and skilled trainers are working regularly for better and effective infrastructure and developing an appropriate framework of the visual art & crafts education system at an elementary level in our country. CFAC’s academic panel has created a very significant curriculum/ syllabus and helpful textbooks for children that focus on drawing, painting, craft, creative expression, handwriting, calligraphy, study work, motivational lessons,lay-out of school standard study subjects etc., which are very helpful in improving their creative skills at the base level. Academic panel officials are observing and resolving the role of the instructor in every aspect of the curriculum including student activities, performance, advantages and disadvantages, all in a simplistic manner.

CFAC

Analysis of activities –

Mostly general education and art education are considered to be the same. But the aim of both is different. Art education enoucrages students to express their feelings.Teachers have a lot of responsibilities and their role is very important in understanding and responding to the creative work of the child. For this, a skilled art teacher is needed and only a qualified artist can regulate a creative class. For this, a teacher should have the following eligibilities:-

    1. The teacher must be a practicing artist and as such the person should have knowledge of the necessitiy of practicing art in childhood.
    2. The teacher should have complete knowledge about all the stages of cognitive development of a child.
    3. Have a clear idea of the nature of child art and have a keen interest in understanding the work of the child psychologically.
    4. The importance of the surrounded environment should be analyzed in creative work.
    5. Be aware of how to handle a child`s creative work.
    6. Depending on the needs of the child the teacher should be able to identify anddetermine the medium, materials, etc. that would be best suited for the student.
    7. Must have the ability to initiatethe interested in creative work to a child.
    8. Above all, it is most important to have accurate knowledge of how to judge a child`s work.

5. Assessment

CFFAC

Analysis of activities –

It is important to evaluate every child`s activity.Usually at the end of the year,a standard test is conducted to determine the quality of the child`s efficiency.Determining the quality of the child`s creative work is not accurate enough in this process. Since mental development is a gradual process. So to determine the quality of the progress of the child`s creative work, C.F.A.C. judges the child`s tasks in various sectors from the beginning of the year as per the child`s age criteria.

Assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning in visual arts education. It contributes to a teaching-learning-assessing continuum that provides the teacher with valuable information on the child’s development in art and on the effectiveness of the teaching programme.

Assessment in visual arts takes place as the child engages in the creative process of making art, when a piece of artwork is completed and while making a personal response to artworks. This approach to assessment enables the teacher to ensure that the whole spectrum of visual arts education is reflected in the child’s learning and his/her teaching.

Assessment helps ensure that the programme is appropriate for the needs of the individual child. It helps to identify learning potential and problems and enables the teacher to choose appropriate teaching strategies. It also provides the teacher with a sound basis for recording and reporting the child’s development in art. Although much of what can be achieved in visual arts education is observable, assessment should not be confined to skills and techniques. It should also identify the understandings, the attitudes and levels ofcommitment and the responses the child develops in the process of making art and of developing critical and aesthetic awareness.

Roles of assessment: why assess?

Assessment can serve different purposes. Continuous assessment that takes place during the course of visual arts activities gives the teacher information on the child’s level of involvement, on his/her stage and rateof development and immediate learning needs. This formative type of assessment helps the teacher to plan the next step in the child’s learning and may suggest modifications to aspects of the visual arts programme.Problems may be diagnosed in visual expression, but this should be seen as one indicator of the child’s whole development and should be combined with other indicators for a complete assessment. Assessment is summative when used to give a periodic overview of the child’s development in the visual arts. This form of assessment can be useful to the child, to parents, to teachers and other professionals. C.F.A.C.completes the student assessment process through practical, written, submission and oral method.

For the convenience of proper management of the student’s assessment process, the online registration, student dashboard, institutional dashboard, external dashboar facilities have been added in C.F.A.C. website for uploading all data.

Representatives of the CFAC’s academic panel are constantly working to make the training and assessment process more accurate to improve the curriculum for the students.

Aim:

On completion of the course, students should be able to give a personal response to an idea, experience or another stimulus. Working from imagination, memory and direct observation and using drawing for observation, recording and analysis, as a means of thinking and for communication and expression. Also to use the three-dimensional processes of additive, subtractive and constructional form-making in expressive and functional modes. Understanding the art and design elements using a variety of materials, media, tools and equipment. Knowing how to use an appropriate working vocabulary and understand relevant scientific, mathematical and technological aspects of art, craft and design. Finally to appraise and evaluate his/her own work in progress and on completion develop an awareness of the historical, social and economic role and value of art, craft and design and aspects of contemporary culture and mass media.
